The history of Mother's Day
Although it's often claimed that Mother's Day is an invention of the flower industry, this isn't actually the case. Mother's Day originated in the American women's movement. 🇺🇸 Its founder is considered to be Anna Marie Jarvis, who organized a Memorial Mothers Day Meeting on the second anniversary of her mother's death in May 1907. The following year, the service was dedicated to all mothers, and 500 white carnations were distributed to the mothers in attendance. Anna Marie Jarvis then launched an initiative to establish an official holiday to honor mothers. And she succeeded: in 1914, Mother's Day was officially celebrated in the USA for the first time. 35 years later, it was also declared a holiday in Germany and has since been the annual day when we thank Mom with small gifts.
When is Mother's Day?
Mother's Day is celebrated every year on the second Sunday in May. The date therefore changes each year: in 2024, Mother's Day will take place on May 12th, while in 2025 we will celebrate Mother's Day on May 11th.

I ordered two sets at the end of July and gave one away as a gift, which was very well received. The packaging is lovely, and there's a great variety of seed bombs. I haven't dared to simply scatter seed bombs in the countryside this year because of the drought. But something is already growing in my flower box; I don't know if the seedlings will grow much, as it's already late in the year. My friend's seed bombs have also exploded in her garden. Next spring, I'll really get started.
