We think Easter is the perfect time to learn more about eggs. Where do they come from? Why are they brown or white? How many eggs does a hen lay in a year? We visited the Hümme organic farm near Lübeck and had farmer Lars explain to us where our Easter eggs actually come from.

• For very young children (1-3 years): Tactile experience and safety are key. First natural toys made of wood or a sharedraised garden bed on the balcony are ideal.
• Kindergarten children (3-6 years): Their spirit of discovery is enormous! Seed bomb craft kits are a huge hit here - messy fun included!
  
• School children (6+ years): Now it gets exciting. How does an ecosystem work? Building their own insect hotel or using complex seed sets will challenge the little professional gardeners.
