Why choose sustainable Christmas gifts for employees?

Sustainability is a topic that's becoming increasingly important for companies. The awareness that our resources are finite and must be used wisely is also gaining significance in the corporate context. So, with sustainable Christmas gifts, you're not only doing something for your employees, but also for the environment. 🎄 Here are some key reasons why sustainable gifts for employees are a great choice:

• Positive corporate culture: By choosing environmentally friendly Christmas gifts, you underline your company's commitment to sustainability and social responsibility and show that you care about our environment.
• Employee retention: Sustainable Christmas gifts not only express appreciation for your employees, but also show them that you care about their environment as well as their work.
• Contribution to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR): CSR is becoming increasingly relevant for companies – it's about consciously making sustainable decisions and actively contributing to creating a better world. Sustainable employee gifts for the holidays are one way to make a statement.

Criteria for sustainable Christmas gifts for employees

Sustainability is on everyone's lips – but not every product advertised as "sustainable" is truly environmentally friendly and ethically produced. Here are a few important criteria to consider when choosing sustainable Christmas gifts for employees :

Choose employee gifts made from environmentally friendly materials

When choosing products, make sure they are made from recycled or biodegradable materials. Avoid plastic as much as possible and opt for natural or reusable materials such as glass, wood, or stainless steel.

At "Die Stadtgärtner" (The Urban Gardeners), we make sure to use sustainable raw materials in the production of our products. The majority of our product packaging is made from sustainable paper or kraft cardboard.

Pay attention to ethical production conditions. Something many often forget:

Sustainability means not only environmental protection, but also social responsibility. When choosing your employee gifts for the holidays, make sure that the products are manufactured under fair working conditions and thus contribute to a just and sustainable economy.

Social responsibility is very important to us urban gardeners. Since the beginning, we have worked together with local workshops for people with disabilities, where some of our products are carefully handcrafted.

Buy locally produced products

If possible, choose employee gifts from regional suppliers. This not only supports local businesses but also reduces the carbon footprint through shorter transport routes.

We manufacture our products in cooperation with sheltered workshops in our hometown of Nordhorn in Lower Saxony.

3. Lucky charms as Christmas gifts:
Wishing you lots of luck for the new year! Giving the gift of good fortune is one of the best gifts you can give your employees. 4. Growing Christmas card:
Christmas greetings that grow flowers! This year, why not give your employees a growing Christmas card? 🌱 Colorful wildflowers grow right out of our sustainable Christmas cards. Simply plant the seed paper or seed stick on the card and water it – and soon the recipient will be able to enjoy a vibrant display of wildflowers and will remember your Christmas greetings for a long time to come!
5. Open-air buffet:
Give the gift of a nature experience. Spending time in nature grounds you and recharges your batteries. This is scientifically proven. Here's how you can wrap sustainable Christmas gifts for employees

When wrapping employee gifts for the holidays, you should also consider sustainability in the packaging. 🎁 Here are some tips on how to make the packaging environmentally friendly yet attractive:

• Avoid plastic packaging: Do without plastic and instead opt for reusable or compostable materials such as jute, cotton or paper.
• Ideas for reusable and eco-friendly packaging: For example, you could present a gift in a fabric bag that can be reused later. Decorative boxes made from recycled materials are also a good choice.
• Creative packaging for sustainable gifts: A beautifully wrapped gift always makes an impression. Use natural materials such as dried flowers or raffia to visually enhance the gift while remaining sustainable.
